Why One Direction should play in the Olympic Games opening

Duran Duran, a supergroup of the 1980s, announced that the musical talent that will represent England in the Olympic Games.

They will perform at the opening ceremony along with Snow Patrol (representing Northern Ireland), Stereophonics (representing Wales) and Paolo Nutini (representing Scotland). But this was the right choice? I can not help but feel that an obvious choice was forgotten: One Direction.

The band Duran Duran, was formed in 1978, going to sell millions of albums around the world. The band was the top of the charts during the 1980s thanks to tracks "Rio" and "Is There Something I Should Know?" They were undoubtedly the best thing at the time.

But what matters is now. And as a fan of music, both before and now we can not see Duran Duran raise the young audience the same way as modern Snow Patrol, Paolo Nutini and Stereophonics. Yes, your fan base and sales are indisputable. But nostalgia is not on the agenda Olympic.

The spirit of the Olympics is to celebrate British talent. With young stars like diver Tom Daley and racing star Jessica Ennis.

Surely we should use this opportunity to display the One Direction is not it? Zayn, Harry, Niall, Louis and Liam had his debut album as the most browsing, faster, in 2011 in the UK and they achieved a huge success overseas.

In addition, they inspire scenes reminiscent of Beatlemania; girls flocking to them and their fans are totally fanatical. So, what better way to get the youth of our country involved in the Olympics? And let's be honest, who does not like singing What Makes You Beautiful?

The One Direction is without doubt the biggest pop stars in the world now, they can stand alongside the giants of music as Snow Patrol, Stereophonics and Paolo Nutini with his head held high.

As a Brit, a very successful tour in America and Australia, with its presence in the growing media - is absurd omo the boys get forgotten artists for this monumental event, while Duran Duran have been reserved.

MSN Music UK did a poll to know "Who do you think should be representing England?" And you can vote here in One Direction!
